House Democratic leaders will give remarks Tuesday morning ahead of President Trump’s first major speech before Congress.
The press conference, led by Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.) and vice chair Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.), comes just 10 days before government funding is set to expire, with no bipartisan deal in sight.
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and President Trump have both backed a “clean” resolution to run the rest of the fiscal year, but it is not clear Democrats will agree given the cuts Trump’s team is making at departments under its control.
It’s also far from clear that Johnson can get enough Republicans to back a clean resolution to fund the government without Democratic support.
The press conference is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. EST.
