Rochester, N.Y. — Wednesday marks Ash Wednesday, when Christians observe the beginning of Lent.
Churches all around the Rochester area are celebrating this coveted tradition and are inviting everyone to come and receive ashes.
- Holy Apostles Church with services at 12:10 PM and 7:00 PM
- Holy Trinity Church, Webster, with prayer services with ash distribution at 6:30 AM and 12:15 PM; and mass at 8:30 AM and 5:40 PM
- Immaculate Conception/St. Bridget’s Church with service at 6:00 PM
- St. John the Evangelist Church, Spencerport, with services at 8:00 AM, noon, and 6:30 PM
- St. Joseph’s Church, Penfield, with services at 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 5:30 PM, and 7:30 PM
- St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish with service at 7:00 PM
St. Monica Church on Genesee Street is offering drive-through ashes in 15-minute increments starting at 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.
