Tensions are reportedly rising between Snow White stars Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot ahead of the film’s release, according to multiple sources.
While 23-year-old Zegler and 39-year-old Gadot share the screen in Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White, their relationship seems to be marked by differences. A source tells PEOPLE that Zegler and Gadot “have nothing in common,” noting that Zegler, who is younger, is at a very different stage in life from Gadot, a mother of four.
“On top of that, their political views differ, adding to the tension,” the source continued, without elaborating further.
Reps for both actresses did not respond to PEOPLE‘s requests for comment.
Tension surrounding the film has been building for months, as Zegler plays the titular princess and Gadot portrays the Evil Queen in the movie, which also stars 500 Days of Summer director Marc Webb. The live-action remake has been highly anticipated, but its production and press cycle have been far from smooth, with drama surrounding its release. Despite this, both actresses have appeared together at various promotional events, including the D23 Expo in 2022 and the Academy Awards in 2025, where they presented an award together.
While Gadot did not attend the European premiere of Snow White in Spain on March 12, a source close to the situation clarified that she was never supposed to be there, as she was conducting press in New York instead. “This isn’t like a ‘stay away from me’ situation,” the insider explained. “They were at the Oscars together. They’ll be together this weekend.”
However, a third source described the relationship between the two actresses as one of professional courtesy rather than friendship, citing their “huge age gap and very different political views.” Gadot, an Israeli-born actress and former soldier in the Israel Defense Forces, has supported the release of Israeli hostages, while Zegler, a vocal advocate for Palestine, has publicly expressed support for Palestine on social media amidst the ongoing Gaza conflict.
“Gal is annoyed by the movie drama,” the third source said. “She enjoyed filming. She was fine with Rachel but they are not friends. They have nothing in common… They did a job together, and that’s it.”
Zegler has also faced criticism following her casting as Snow White, with some social media users expressing racist backlash over her Latinx background. Additionally, Zegler made headlines when she remarked that the original Snow White was “dated” and that the remake would offer a modern take on the beloved character.
According to the second source, Gadot doesn’t align with Zegler’s comments, with the source explaining that Gadot believes that one should not criticize or stir up drama about a project they’ve signed on to. “She just doesn’t get it,” the source added.
As the film’s March 21 release date approaches, it remains to be seen how these reported tensions will impact the film’s reception and the ongoing media narrative surrounding its stars.
