Alan Cumming has got his eyes on new cast members for upcoming seasons of The Traitors. As Parade previously reported, the Emmy-winning host would love to have Martha Stewart on the show, but he’s also hoping to see some of his old film co-stars, the Spice Girls.
Back in 1997, Cumming stared alongside the iconic pop group in Spice World, playing Piers Cuthbertson-Smyth, a filmmaker chasing after the Spice Girls, hoping to include them in his next project.
When asked if he thought any of the Spice Girls (Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham) would appear on the show, Cumming exclusively told Parade, “I bet they would,” adding: “In the British version, I think they’re talking about doing a celebrity version, because [The Traitors UK casts] real people, and I bet some of the girls would go on it, because they’re such good fun.”
“They’re very much now entrenched in British culture,” Cumming continued. “They do all these shows, and they’re always around and [are] like these amazing sort of cool aunties that we’ve grown up with. So yeah, I’d love that. I think that would be great. I think it’d be hilarious actually.”
All five members of the Spice Girls have appeared on reality TV in one capacity or another since their heyday in the ’90s. They’ve served as judges and mentors on some shows and contestants on others, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to see the girls hop on a quick flight to Scotland to compete on The Traitors.
While they certainly could appear on the British version, the US version has consistently cast UK celebs on their seasons as well, so here’s hoping we get to see Sporty Spice give Omarosa a Round Table beatdown on Season 4.
