When it comes to onscreen chemistry, some stars didn’t have to fake it—because their real-life relationships mirrored their roles. From summer flings to rekindled romances years later, these celebrities admitted to having off-camera hookups with their former costars.

Ione Skye and John Cusack’s romance in Say Anything wasn’t just for the screen. In her memoir Say Everything, Skye revealed that although she had long denied any off-screen involvement, she and Cusack did, in fact, hook up—years later, after her divorce from her first husband, Adam Horovitz. “I had to get it out of my system,” she confessed.

In his memoir If You Would Have Told Me, John Stamos shared a conversation between him, his former General Hospital costar Demi Moore, and writer Ali Adler. When asked if they had ever been intimate during their time on the soap opera, Stamos recalled looking at Moore for confirmation. “I don’t know if we slept together. I think we fooled around though,” Moore admitted.

In Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, Matthew Perry reflected on his brief but intense relationship with Julia Roberts. Roberts had agreed to guest star on Friends under one condition: that her storyline was with Perry’s character, Chandler Bing. Their romance blossomed before filming, but Perry, struggling with self-doubt, ended things. “Dating Julia Roberts had been too much for me,” he wrote, recalling that he felt he was never “enough” for her. “So instead of facing the inevitable agony of losing her, I broke up with the beautiful and brilliant Julia Roberts.”

Forty years after Star Wars: A New Hope was filmed, Carrie Fisher revealed in The Princess Diarist that she and Harrison Ford had a passionate three-month affair during production. “It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend,” she described of their off-screen romance.

While their characters never had a romantic relationship on Glee, Lea Michele revealed in her book Brunette Ambition that she and Matthew Morrison had briefly dated before joining the show. “Matt had been a friend of mine for years, and in fact, we had actually dated back in the day for a Broadway beat,” she wrote.
