Hong Kong’s PCCW Media and SK Global, the company behind Crazy Rich Asians and Delhi Crime, have teamed up for the big-budget Hong Kong-set drama series The Season.
The show is created and executive produced by writer and producer Yalun Tu, known for his work on NCIS: Hawaii and Wu Assassins. Chilean filmmaker Marialy Rivas (The Jetty) serves as lead director and executive producer.
The series has a buzzy, White Lotus-like premise set amidst Hong Kong high society.

The ensemble cast features a mix of acclaimed regional talent, led by Jessie Mei Li (Shadow and Bone), three-time Golden Horse winner Karena Lam, Justin Chien (The Brothers Sun), Yvonne Chapman (Avatar: The Last Airbender), with Celina Jade (Wolf Warrior 2) and Toby Stephens (Percy Jackson And The Olympians). The cast is rounded out by Japanese model and singer Kōki, Lee Jae-yoon (Physical 100), and Hong Kong actors Anson Lo (MIRROR), Marf Yau (COLLAR), Lyman Heung, Thor Lok and Mishy Lee.
“We believe, The Season, is a story that will connect with audiences everywhere through the characters’ personal journeys, relationships and conflicts at times,” says Janice Lee, CEO of Viu and md of PCCW Media Group. “We hope that the show, set against the backdrop of Hong Kong, will give an added layer of energy and vibrancy to the series and provide a window into Hong Kong’s unique culture, international spirit and iconic scenes that is authentic.”

The Season will be distributed on regional streamer Viu across Southeast Asia, the Middle East and South Africa, with additional distribution plans to come, the partners say.
